Need, indeed

We are all concerned with many matters concerning schools – but one of them is certainly on how schools need good teachers. We can get good teachers if we can attract them with good money – money at least bit more enough to distract them from pursuing some other work.

I really applaud the efforts of district D300 to get that money fair and square through the taxes that residents of district D300 pay. But politics seems to play its hand to stop that through measures that does not concern either the jobs or the education. Please see the message below from the D300 district superintendent sent to all D300 families. We need our so called representatives to wake up to the real need of the country – which is education rather than handing out monies to maintain infrastructure buildings that serve no purpose in education.

D300 is in Need-Indeed!

“Dear District 300 families, staff, and community members:

I am deeply disturbed to have to report to you that new legislation for the EDA was filed today at the State Capitol that lacks accountability, transparency, or efficiency.  Here is a news release outlining our primary concerns: http://www.d300.org/news/29691.

I will be back in touch with you later this evening with more specific directions on steps you can take to ensure our students are not the losers in this deal. We must work together very quickly to convince the Governor, House Speaker Mike Madigan, House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie, and Senate leaders to rewrite certain portions of this appalling new legislation before it becomes final this week.

Please be on alert to email and/or call state leaders in the very near future.  We are in the final hours/days of our epic battle for a fair and reasonable compromise.  Thank you for your ongoing support.

Superintendent Michael T. Bregy “
