On the circle

I was talking about why I chose Circle as model for the learning process than the regular process model that has got a Start and a Stop.

That’s the main difference. There is no such thing as Start and Stop for learning. Truthfully, the learning never stops, but expands in concentric circles. The question then comes as to why.

Let’s us for example you open a book to read. If the intention is to get something out of the book, it does not matter where you start on the book. Say a topic or a chapter interests you that is right in the middle of book. Read it! Then go back to find out the more about how the author arrived at that point. Then go forward to see what more the author wants to say about it. Then go beyond to see the list of books the author referenced to present his thoughts in the book.

There you go! The model goes to show that the learning need not stop at the end of the book or start at the beginning of the book. Hence the circle allows you to go clockwise or anti-clockwise to allows you to traverse on the circle letting you visit all other quadrants that are going to contribute to your learning.

In my next blog, I will present these quadrants. I call them ABCD quadrants of learning – I mean it literally. However, my model squares them to help you get double the advantage of learning through this way.
