At the time of writing this article, I am seeing WEBEX, Adobe ConnectPro and GoToMeetings starting up this movement. They are successful in not only bringing awareness to the new products and services, but also reach others who need them quickly.
This area will explode to include many other forms and many other ways. Facebook as a social network, LinkedIn as a professional network and Twitter as a social pager are leading the way.
The purpose of this corner is to identify communities that will grow and include whenever and wherever possible all those communities affecting a technology professional - yesterday, today and tomorrow.
I know that this will be a huge area to cover and quite ambitious in nature. There is no place on the resume to tell about yourself on what life has taught you or let you experience it in so many different ways to make the person you are. Testament to this will be that no two persons will land up doing exactly the same thing even after earning the same degree from the same institution in the same year. Why? It is the influence of others on what they did, what they are doing, what they say and what you make out of it from all that by yourself. OK! Now I got your attention.

Why not start with what 21st century has got to offer?
Why not take advantage of the new technologies and the new ways of communicating to begin with?
Websites, Wikis, Podcasts, Blogs are all part of this new way of communicating in the 21st century. How best can we blend these into 21st century education? It still depends on how strong the old roots are to establish new roots, then to new branches and to new leaves. I stumbled on the concept of Circle of Learning similar to Circle of Life - old roots of centuries of learning to establish newer roots for 21st century intertwined in most wonderful ways.
New learning creates new life and new life creates new learning.
Starting from the concept of Sir Isaac Newton’s Laws of Gravity which made us to understand the planetary motions to take us eventually to space, and from the famous Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity equations to relate energy and mass to power the entire world in new ways, we have come a long way in our understanding of what education means and learning means; and a long way from the ways in which we have learnt to shape the world for the future generations.
Through the COL model that I present here, I am hoping to elaborate on the learning concepts for the 21st century in a much more meaningful way by taking a leaf out of these great learners and scholars of 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
COL will integrate the learning of earlier centuries with the 21st century learning tools and the landscape to provide a new perspective on delivering education for the 21st century Gen M masses.
