November 2012 – Bus Trip

It is a unique month for me. Having spent almost all of November in India, the diverse experience that I carry around would envy any world traveler of today. I experienced India in every sense of it – from the utter despair to heavenly joy!

Heavenly joy comes from the fact that India in spite of its overloaded streets, trains, shopping centers and other public places you can think of, it offers immense joy providing the utmost serenity when you would not think of it. I am talking about the Infosys campus I visited in Mysore. Once you are inside, the breath of fresh air is second to none. I really envy the wonderful days that an apprentice would spend today compared to the days I had as an apprentice.

Now to the utter despair part. Journey to Infosys campus is no joke by any means. The first one was on a bus that was considered to be the luxury transport service from Bangalore to Mysore. However, the headaches soon began as the bus stand had been shifted to a newer place and there you get the first taste of getting transported in a crowded bus and still paying for it. By the time you reach the bus stand to board the bus of your dreams, you are tested.

The bus by no means helps you to relax. When the bus took off from the bus stand, an express service meant the next stop to be in Mysore. But that was not the case. I was trying to relax by closing my eyes and trying to stretch and all of those things that you can think of to spend the next three hours to find moments later to be awakened by a person trying to claim the window seat next to you. How did this happen so early? The answers to that is better that I leave out here. However, I was able to shut one of the passengers up who was supporting the driver who apparently is doing a kind act of picking up passengers en-route to Mysore by totally ignoring the troubles that I took since 6am in the morning to reach the bus stand to board the bus and to travel with peace once the bus left the station.

I was trying to be smarter to take a train next time around. But that was even worse than the bus experience and is better I leave that out for the Part 2 – continuation of the same blog in an effort to feed you with little bit at a time than to overwhelm you with the outwardly experience.
